ABOUT:

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to tell visual stories through writing, filmmaking, and photography. This passion has carried through my career, first as a photojournalist at an Alaska television station, then as an award-winning commercial writer/producer/director, a documentary filmmaker, and an experienced marketing professional. At every stage, I’ve been driven by one thing: the art of innovative storytelling. I’ve had the good fortune of developing and producing television shows for U.S. cable networks, creating brand-defining commercial campaigns, and directing documentaries in some of Alaska’s most remote places. In all that I do, I work to blend vivid writing and evocative imagery with the two most foundational elements: story and a sense of humanity.

In 2020, I wrote and produced the six-episode podcast Normalish about the ways in which people were adapting to life during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Listen to Normalish HERE.

In 2022, I launched Greatland, a first-person storytelling collective designed to feature authentic and fearless stories from diverse voices. It’s also where I regularly feature my own essays and video storytelling. As a startup, Greatland is just getting off the ground and my hope is that it will grow into a thriving community of writers and storytellers. Visit Greatland HERE.

My goal is to remain creatively flexible, allowing aesthetic styles to evolve and grow and, most importantly, letting the story guide the format.

The backstory: Born in South Carolina, raised in Kentucky, migrated to Alaska. I received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Centre College and went on to earn a Master of Business Administration at the University of Alaska Anchorage. I live in Anchorage, Alaska with my wife Victoria, our daughter Annabella, a lovable bernedoodle named Leo, and a surly cat who keeps us all in check.
